We are seeking a Grant Accountant to provide vital fiscal and grant support within the City’s Grants Management Division. In this role, you will play a key part in managing federal and state contracts and grants, ensuring compliance, and supporting the success of critical projects across the City.

What You’ll Do:

  • Conduct grant research and assist with project design, grant writing, and budget preparation.
    •    Prepare expenditure schedules, draft billing/drawdown reports, and monitor expenditures to ensure compliance.
    •    Oversee accounts receivables and revenue application, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in opening and closing projects.
    •    Provide technical assistance, review grant-related documents, and support staff training initiatives.
    •    Collaborate with internal and external partners, serving as a liaison between departments, administrators, and stakeholders.
    •    Act as a subject matter expert in grants management, with strong knowledge of GAAP, Federal CFRs, and applicable state and local regulations.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience as a Grant Accountant or Senior Grant Accountant, managing moderately complex federal and state grants.
    •    Solid understanding of grants management practices, accounting principles, and compliance requirements.
    •    Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to provide guidance and support across teams.

Minimum Training & Experience

Grants Accountant

Possession of a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business or public administration or a related field and two years of grants/accounting administration experience (such as monitoring of grant expenditures, fiscal administration and compliance related experience) or two years of experience as an accountant, budget analyst or auditor; or possession of an associate’s degree in accounting, finance, business or public administration or a related field and four years of grants/accounting administration experience (such as monitoring of grant expenditures, fiscal administration and compliance related experience) or four years of experience as an accountant, budget analyst or auditor, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. 

Senior Grants Accountant

Possession of a bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, finance, or a related field; and five years of professional experience in grants administration, fiscal administration, management systems, budgeting, finance, accounting, procurement, and compliance related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. 

Salary Range

$20.8354 to $75.8988/hourly. 

Driver's License Requirements

Must possess a valid Class E State driver’s license at the time of appointment.
