The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is a non-profit, bipartisan public policy organization established in 1962 to provide strategic insights and practical policy solutions to decision makers concerned with global security and prosperity. Over the years, it has grown to be one of the largest organizations of its kind, with a staff of some 200 employees, including more than 120 analysts working to address the changing dynamics of international security across the globe.
The Senior Budget Analyst plays a key role in budget and forecast planning, as well as in grant and contract accounting within the Finance & Accounting team. This position collaborates with a portfolio of CSIS policy programs and administrative departments to develop proposal budgets, contract costs/pricing, and operating budgets. The Senior Budget Analyst works closely with program directors and designated staff to proactively monitor income and expenses, identify trends and potential risks, and ensure resource allocation and labor adjustments align with program objectives. Additionally, the candidate is responsible for preparing financial reports for programs, departments, and donors.
The Senior Budget Analyst must have a strong understanding of GAAR accounting practices, including, but not limited to, cost accounting methodologies, grant and contractual revenue recognition, and proven experience with nonprofit budgeting concepts, practices, and procedures. The candidate should also have hands-on experience with accounting and budgeting CRM systems. The ideal candidate must possess excellent communication, judgment, and critical thinking skills. They should be proactive, detail-oriented, motivated, and a strong team player. The Senior Budget Analyst will report to the Deputy CFO.
The salary band for this position is $100,000-$120,000. Salary will be commensurate with experience.

This position will be a hybrid that will require 2-3 days a week in the office.
