Position Overview:

The Grants Project Specialist is responsible for identifying and securing funding opportunities through federal, state, local, and private grants. This role involves writing grant proposals, managing funds, ensuring compliance with regulations, and coordinating with various departments to maximize funding potential. The ideal candidate has strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills to oversee the entire grant lifecycle, from research to reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

Grant Research & Application:

  • Identify grant opportunities for disaster and non-disaster-related projects.
  • Prepare, write, and submit grant applications, ensuring all requirements are met.
  • Assist department heads with drafting and refining applications.

Grant Management & Compliance:

  • Track and monitor grant expenditures, ensuring alignment with budgets and guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local grant regulations.
  • Work with the Finance Department to manage grant-related accounts.
  • Submit reimbursement requests and required compliance reports on time.

Program Oversight & Reporting:

  • Monitor grant-funded activities to ensure project goals are met.
  • Evaluate project performance and recommend improvements.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and assist with audits.
  • Assist in preparing grant-related contracts, notices, and budget forecasts.

Required Skills & Knowledge:

Strong writing, research, and communication skills.
✔ Knowledge of federal, state, and private grant processes.
✔ Understanding of grant administration, budgeting, and compliance.
✔ Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); ability to learn WorkDay Grant Management.
✔ Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
✔ Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to navigate complex grant requirements.

Education & Experience:

🎓 Required: Associate’s degree + 3-5 years in grant management, writing, or administration.
🎓 Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Administration, Finance, or related field.
🏛 Experience in local, state, or federal government grants is a plus.
