Position: DIRECTOR OF GRANT FUNDING
Job Duties:
The Director of Grants is responsible for managing financial accounting, grant oversight, and compliance and reporting for all grant awards. The Director of Grants works closely with the managed grant services provider, supervises the grants coordinator, and all assigned College principal investigators to ensure the College successfully administers all funded grant programs.
POSITION-SPECIFIC JOB SUMMARY:
Oversight:
- Oversee full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to governmental, foundation and corporate
- Serve as a liaison to all funding agencies and organizations.
- Enforce grant policies and processes, including approvals to pursue opportunities, submit proposals, and request program or budget modifications.
- Supervise grants coordinator and manage the grant consulting firm relationship.
- Participate in orientation for Principal Investigators (PIs) who receive new grants.
Accounting/Bookkeeping:
- Manage grant accounting/bookkeeping from award to close out for grants in compliance with the applicable grant regulations.
- Participate in the production of year-end audit schedules. Act as primary liaison for the 0MB A-133 Single Audit with College Controller. Prepare necessary schedules, provide financial data selected by auditors and resolve issues as needed.
- Ensure compliant budgets in collaboration with the budgeting process and CFO. Track and budget grant and operationalized salaries and other budget items. Draw down salary and other funds in a timely manner.
- Prepare grant portfolio analysis for Annual Report and other reports as required.
- Prepare new grants for the creation of general ledger accounts and set up.
- Reconcile and review expenditures, including, but not to limited to, payroll.
- Prepare invoices, financial reports and compliance reports as may be required.
- Prepare journal entries, including but not limited to, deferred grant process, labor redistributions, interest accrual, expenditure allocations, indirect costs, reclassifications, cost transfers, corrections for mis-postings.
- Reconcile transactions on grants monthly and prepare monthly reports for PIs.
- Prepare reallocation budgets for PIs as requested.
- Review budgets for new proposals and provide feedback and fiscal training to staff, PIs and other stakeholders.
- Work with PIs to wholly expend awards within the stated grant period and to prevent over expenditures.
Reporting/Compliance:
- Work directly with faculty, staff, and external partners to ensure follow through on delivering information or expertise as assigned for grant application development. Coordinate follow-up on the status of submitted proposals.
- Ensure compliance with all grant reporting requirements. Coordinate with PIs for timely submission of progress reports and compliance with grant requirements.
- Oversee and facilitate the collection, analysis, and reporting of data on the performance of program activities that are funded by federal, state, and private funding agencies.
- Work collaboratively to resolve issues with the Pl to satisfy the requirements of the funding agency and the College.
- Perform other duties, as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in a related field. High level of technical proficiency, training and experience in lieu of a master’s degree.
- Five to Seven years of job-related experience with grants or fiscal accounting/bookkeeping.
SKILLS:
In addition to the required qualifications, the following skills are required unless noted:
- 3 to 5 years’ experience as a successful grant writer or managing a grant development and management operation
- Familiarity with the federal regulations detailed in the Uniform Grant Guidance is needed to ensure grant management and compliance policies and processes are appropriate and will enable the College to remain compliant with funder requirements.
Starting Salary: $84,050 - $100,000
